A recent accident on Interstate 295 on Monday, November 21 reportedly occurred because the driver of a van failed to properly change lanes. According to reports, this action caused a sports car and a dump truck to cross into the median, directly into oncoming traffic. The 18-year-old driver of the sports car and a 72-year-old driver of another vehicle had to be rushed to Orange Park Medical Center to be treated for serious injuries.
The 46-year-old driver of the van was heading east on I-295 at approximately 11:36 a.m. when he improperly changed lanes. This caused his van to clip the 18-year-old victim’s Nissan 370Z while he was traveling in the left lane. The impact caused the sports car to cross into the median, where it struck the driver’s side front section of a semi-truck, then hit the 72-year-old man’s SUV, which caused that vehicle to flip onto its roof.
The semi-truck, meanwhile, traveled across the median into eastbound traffic after the collision. The truck driver suffered minor injuries. The driver of the van received a citation for improper lane change.
The individuals injured in a crash like this may need to file claims with the at-fault driver’s insurance company to recover compensation for medical bills, lost wages and other costs associated with their injuries. If that does not result in a satisfactory outcome, they may need to take legal action, such as through a personal injury lawsuit. It’s not yet clear if this recent incident will result in any civil action of that nature.
If you have been injured in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, you may need to seek monetary damages. Consult a trusted Jacksonville personal injury lawyer for further guidance.
